The year that was 2010

And so it is the end of fashion and celebrities for 2010....And what a year it has been!  Personally, my highlight, was being a part of my very first Rosemount Australian Fashion Week.  This included meeting an array of fashion's elite, that I could only dream of meeting!  I will never forget Romance was Born's magical jungle show and Dion Lee's exquisite, elegant show at the Opera House!  Dion Lee was definitely a stand out in Australian Fashion this year.
The year in fashion started off on a low note as we farewelled iconic fashion legend Alexander McQueen.  Things then took a weird turn, yes Lady Gaga challenged 'fashion' and accepted her VMA wearing a meat outfit, which included shoes and a headpiece.  Anna Wintour shocked everyone when she placed Halle Berry on the cover of the September Issue of Vogue, as this was the first African American on this issue since 1989.  Sydney participated in their very first Fashion's Night Out, which was followed by their opening of the new Westfield Sydney.  Whitney Port visited Australia during L'oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival and the nation stopped when Opera came.  We celebrated the weddings of Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie, Joel Madden and Nicole Richie, Katy Perry and Russell Brand and of course Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom.. Not forgetting that Miranda Kerr announced she was pregnant, as well as fashion queen Rachel Zoe!  Heidi Klum hung up her Victoria's Secret wings and Sarah Murdoch announced Kelsey as the winner of Australia's Next Top Model instead of Amanda.  Taylor Swift took over world and we bid farewell to 'The Hills'.  And as for reality tv?  Let's just say it was taken to a whole new level, where we all learnt the meaning of 'GTL'..  Kim Kardashian got named the highest paid reality tv star earning over $6million in 2010, followed by Lauren Conrad, the Kardashian sisters, Audrina Patridge, Bethenny Frankel, Kendra Wilkinson and Pauly D and Mike from Jersey Shore.  Did I miss anything?  Possibly the fact that we all witnessed some of the most amazing collection this year on a local and international front!  I can't wait to see the world of fashion and celebrities for 2011.

Most Fashionable of 2010

Who do I believe was the most fashionable celebrity of the year?  I've had my eye of quite a few celebrities this year including Blake Lively and Leighton Meester, Rachel Bilson, Olivia Palermo, Lauren Conrad, Tinsley Mortimer, Taylor Swift, Alexa Chung and that's just the start.  Whilst I have my favourites there were definitely some celebrities that stood out this year, more than usual.
Rachel Bilson.. I was always a huge fan of hers when she starred on 'The OC' however, she disappeared for a while.  This year, she returned and was more fashionable than ever before, attending Fashion Week, events and Fashion's Night Out NY.
Fashion's Night Out NY
Blake Lively has always been on the fashion scene, but it seemed as though this year she took it to a whole new level.  Attending Fashion Week, events, dressing in Marchesa and Chanel and was rubbing shoulders with Anna Wintour and Karl Lagerfeld!

Taylor Swift has not only taken over the music world, but slowly she's entered the fashion world.  Appearing at fashion events, Fashion Week and gracing the cover of an array of magazines.  I think Taylor is definitely one to watch in 2011 especially with her unique sense of style.
But who do I believe was the most stylish person of 2010?  This person managed to gracefully pull off every trend, the little white dress, the little black dress, the lace trend, the floral trend, textures, colour, metallic, the ponytail trend, the statement piece necklace, the sheer maxi, the high flared pants, the classics, the bootie, the leggings, the faux fur, the embellishments, the leather shorts, the ruffles, the animal print and she successfully pulled it off with her Birkin Bag and Charlotte Olympia Eve shoes.  I'm talking about Olivia Palermo!  Always on trend, always in designer and always ever so fashionable.. from Fashion Week, to events, to campaigns and editorials.. She has an amazing sense of style.  I love how she embraces trends and the classics. I would have to say Olivia Palermo alongside her boyfriend Johannes Huebl were the most stylish couple of the year.  I really enjoyed blogging them.  A guy that can pull off that many different suits gets the approval in my books!  He successfully wore the grey suit, the navy suit, the white suit, the tan suit, the khaki suit and the black suit.  This year they have become the fashion power couple!

Lily Donaldson for Harper's Bazaar US

I am completely obsessed at the moment with the current January 2011 issue of Harper's Bazaar US, the subscribers special edition.  The one and only Lily Donaldson graces the cover looking ever so adorable!  The editorial features Lily in the latest spring pieces straight from the Spring 2011 runway, including Chloe, Donna Karen, Gucci, Dior, Calvin Klein, Lanvin, Missoni, Prada, Michael Kors, Dolce and Gabbana, Armani, Marc Jacobs, Burberry, Valentino and Chanel.  What makes this editorial so special, are Lily's cute animal companions!  Here are a few of my favourite shots.
