And the countdown begins...!!

That's right, the countdown to Rosemount Fashion Week has begun! Rosemount Fashion Week is the biggest event in the Australian Fashion Industry. What makes it more exciting this year, fingers crossed, my application to work there will be accepted! This means I can bring Rosemount straight to my readers.  As May 3rd nears, invitations to fashion's elite are being sent out and the excitement and anticipation escalates! Breaking news..... The biggest private fashion show since the mid 1990s will be held by the one and only, Alex Perry! The show is set to involve a 60m long catwalk and 40 models gracing the runway, including the likes of Elyse Taylor, Catherine McNeil and Samantha Harris. And wait for it...a crazy 1000 guests are set to attend, the guest list includes Sarah Murdoch, Miranda Kerr, Erika Heynatz and Natalie Bassingthwaighte. The show will consist of Alex Perry's new couture collection as well as his new ready-to-wear collection.

In the words of Rachel Zoe... that is ba-na-nas!!!

L'oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival

Melbourne, Australia’s very own fashion capital, was host last week to L’oreal Fashion Festival. Opening night saw the likes of designers such as, Collette Dinnigan, Willow, Sass and Bide, Dion Lee, creating a theatrical fashion fairytale! Each designer created their fashion interpretation of a fantasy character.

The runway shows were amazing and included designers such as Sass and Bide, Bettina Liano, Lisa Ho, Camilla and Marc, Jayson Brunsdon, Wayne Cooper and that’s just the start. I am completely in love with the number from Jayson Brunsdon!

The Myer Launch and David Jones Launch

Australia’s major department stores captured audiences, when they both flaunted their new season Autumn/Winter 2010 collections. Ambassadors, Jennifer Hawkins for Myer and Miranda Kerr for David Jones, took to the runway promoting the stores latest trends and styles. I was lucky to participate in the productions as one of the backstage dressers, part of my work experience for my course. The David Jones Launch invites only those in the industry and elite to attend. I dressed model Hannah McCarthy from Make me a Supermodel. Hannah graced the runway in designers Sabatini, Gorman, Akira and Scanlan and Theodore. I was fortunate to see models Miranda Kerr, Megan Gale and Valerija Erokhina as well as designers Carla Zampatti and Bianca Spender and an array of media. The show opened with Miranda Kerr in Bianca Spender, as this is the first season David Jones now stocks Bianca Spender and Carla Zampatti. The show ended on a high note closing with Sass and Bide.

Whilst I didn’t participate at the Myer Autumn/Winter 2010 launch, I participated in Friday’s Myer Autumn/Winter In store launch. The in store launch is an opportunity for the public to see the collections. I was fortunate to dress model Ryan Porter while he strutted the runway with a crazy six outfit changes including, Blaq, Wayne Cooper, Politix, Country Road, Saxony and Maddox. We made it through, without any malfunctions and it was an amazing opportunity to work with him. I was also fortunate to see model Jennifer Hawkins and meet and work with models Tyler Atkins (featured in Vogue) and Matt Johnson.

Working at both the Myer Launch and David Jones Launch was an amazing experience and opportunity. It’s not every day you get to see and work with fashion’s elite! Next stop Rosemount Fashion Week!  Trend Alert: Think 1940s and 1980s.. Structure, colour (red and purple), tailoring, shoulder pads, embezzlements, leather, prints, studded accessories including shoes.

Whitney's Coming!

This week is L'oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival! This means, fashion, runways, socialites and parties. Even more exciting... Whitney Port is coming! The Fashionista and star of MTV's the City and the Hills, is touching down in Australia, just in time for Fashion Week. As one of my fashion influences, this is completely amazing! According to Whitney, there has been talk of her debuting her collection Whitney Eve here! Whitney's collections are feminine, stylish, sophisticated and the type of clothing that can take you from day to night. So if you live in Melbourne and want to sneak a peek of the Fashionista, hit Federation Square on the 20th March.

Who's ready to hit Melbourne?! Let the Runway begin!

I found myself on the Paris Runway

My very first post was devoted to Fashion Week and well it’s not over yet! Except now it’s Paris Fashion Week and let’s just say, they have gone above and beyond. Valentino and Chanel brought me to a complete stand still, just remarkable. Other amazing shows included Elie Saab, Miu Miu and Louis Vuitton.
Chanel
The Chanel collection, was truly classic Chanel and amazing as usual. A cross between an ice princess and a snow angel and a contrast between white and black. So warm and cosy for Winter, yet so fashion forward.

Valentino
The Valentino collection is completely flawless. His collection used a combination of the colours black and white as well as neutrals and a dash of colour. Delicate fabrics, ruffles, leather, and beading were blended together in this collection. I love the little butterfly ornaments he incorporated on the dresses, and my favourite number is the long, neutral colour, ruffle dress.

Lights, Camera, Action!

The Academy Awards…. the film awards, but more importantly, a time when amazing Haute Couture pieces dazzle the Red Carpet. Trend Alert.... metallics, crystals, embezzlements, up do hair with statement accessories and ruffles! Here are a few of my best and worst dressed of the night.
Diane Krugar in complete Chanel!  Chanel Haute Couture gown, Chanel accessories and jewellery.  All I can say is completely amazing.  This is one of my favourite Chanel gowns, from the very moment it stepped on the catwalk.  Now I love it even more on the Red Carpet.  The outfit is completed with a simple, elegant black Chanel clutch and Chanel hair clip.
Cameron Diaz dressed in Cartier jewellery and an Oscar de la Renta gown, straight from the Autumn/Winter 2010/11 runway. Just stunning.. The art of Rachel Zoe?
Sandra Bullock in Marchesa.  I've heard conflicting views, but i think, that Marchesa, can never get it wrong!  The hair looks stunning and the pop of colour on the lips compliments the outfit.  She looks elegant and perfect, really 'Oscar like.'
Miley Cyrus in Jenny Packham gown and Lorraine Schwartz jewellery.  All I can say is, completely glamorous and I really did not recognise her.  The loose up do, the jewellery, the tulle and bodice... Love it!
Amanda Seyfried in Armani Prive Haute Couture.  The detailing on the gown is exquisite, encrusted with Swarovski crystals.  She looks pretty and delicate.
Kate Winslet in a simple YSL dress complimented with a $2.5 million Tiffany and Co diamond necklace! So simple, yet so elegant.
Elizabeth Banks in a Versace gown and Fred Leighton diamonds.  Ruffles, ruffles and ruffles! Love the gown, gorgeous diamond headband, she looks pretty, feminine and princess like.
Zoe Saldana in Givenchy Haute Couture gown.  This was a major risk and definately out there.  I think it's amazing though.  In theory, the elements of the gown would be considered overwhelming, but it just works! Love the colour contrast of purple and the beaded bodice, is just gorgeous.
Demi Moore in Versace.  The colour looks stunning on her.  The draping and ruffles compliment her figure, she looks amazing and flawless.  Rachel Zoe has done it again!
Charlize Theron.. Hands down, this was the worst dressed!  What was with the swirls on the bodice?  The focus was totally there, not on her.  I also really disliked the conflicting contrast of the colour pink.
Mariah Carey, someone should really inform her about the dress code.  Then again, it's Mariah Carey.  The dress aside, there are too many accessories.  As Coco Chanel says, "before you leave your house, take one thing off."
Best Dressed Male - Zac Efron in Calvin Klein - Just wow!
