The Year That Was 2016

It's my last post for 2016!  This year has definitely left it's mark, and is the year you'll either remember, or want to forget.
Let's kick it off on a high note!  This year was the year Leonardo Dicaprio finally won an Oscar, Portugal won the Euro, and the Olympics was held in Rio, where Giselle strutted the world's longest runway.  We welcomed two Victoria's Secret babies, both Behati Prinsloo and Candice Swanepoel gave birth.  The first One Direction baby was born, little Freddie Tomlinson, as well as the first official Kardashian baby, Dream.  Mick Jagger became a father at 73, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, also welcomed bundles of joy.
It was the year we lost legends.. Prince, David Bowie, George Michael, Muhammad Ali, Florence Henderson, Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher, Gene Wilder, as well as fashion royalty, Bill Cunningham, designer Richard Nicoll and Vogue Editor Franca Sozzani.
Politics sent social media into a melt down with the new elected American President, Donald Trump and of course Brexit, the British leaving the Euro.
This year saw one of the biggest celebrity break-ups.  Yes I'm talking about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.  I don't think anyone saw that coming!  Taylor Swift caused a stir, breaking up with Calvin Harris, getting together with Tom Hiddleston, breaking up with Tom and ending with the biggest feud of 2016, Taylor Swift vs Kimye.  At least she ended on a high, collaborating with Zayn Malik and dropping a new song!  Speaking of Zayn... he dropped his very first solo album, which was perhaps my favourite album of the year, won an American Music Award, and landed himself a September issue cover... But it was his #couplegoals with Gigi Hadid that left fans in a frenzy.  It was most certainly the year of the Hadid sisters.  Everywhere you turned, a Hadid girl was there.  Gigi collaborated on her first line with Tommy Hilfiger, hosted the American Music Awards, and was named model of the year at the British Fashion Awards.  She was joined this year, with the sister Bella on the Victoria's Secret runway in Paris.  Except, it was Kendall Jenner, who landed herself the infamous Vogue US September issue cover.
This year marked 10 years since the very first episode of The Hills aired, so fans were treated to a special episode with Lauren Conrad. Ahh the memories!  The Vampire Diaries announced it's final season, while the DC Comics completed a four episode crossover (The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow)!  Netflix made all our dreams come true with the revival of two of my favourite shows, Fuller House (Full House) and The Gilmore Girls.
But what's the one thing I'll take away from 2016?  Highlighting, contouring and 'brows on fleek'.
Welcome 2017!
